Individual counseling focuses on the unique needs, challenges, and difficulties you face in your daily life. Often times, this looks like symptoms of anxiety, depression, loneliness, feelings of isolation, lack of motivation, and other symptoms. In individual counseling, we will work together to identify and better understand the unique problems you're facing, develop a plan together of how to address these concerns and begin the work of healing.
Couples counseling focuses on interpersonal difficulties you and your partner(s) face in your romantic relationship. These areas of difficulties could be communication problems, sexual intimacy, infidelity, broken trust, and many others. In couples counseling, we will work to identify interactional patterns, norms/beliefs, and desires for your future together, to begin making positive changes within the relationship.
Children's counseling is tailored to the unique personality, problems, and needs that your child is experiencing. Often times, symptoms like defiant behavior, emotional dysregulation, and general acting out can be signs of an underlying deeper concern. Through play therapy techniques, we will work together to build rapport with your child and make them feel safe in the therapy setting. Additionally, we will work with your child to build their emotional awareness/regulation, learn and reinforce new skills, and communicate their wants/needs more effectively to adults and caregivers.
As most adults can remember, adolescence can be one of the most difficult stages of our lives. Today's teens face challenges that are unique and ever-evolving, as the modern age continues to progress. We work with your teen to explore the anxiety, depression, perfectionism, sexual orientation/gender identity, LGBTQ+ concerns, and other topics they may have. We will work collaboratively, with both you and your teen, to identify areas of focus and develop a plan to begin addressing these areas. We work hard to earn your child's trust, so they will be able to let their guard down and make the change they desire.
Family therapy is centered around whatever your family structure looks like and the unique difficulties you face. Whether communication seems to be lacking, or non-existent, or you are facing a specific problem, family therapy can help to improve your quality of life. We work to understand the history and various dynamics present within the family and help to provide external insight and guidance. Though it may not seem like it, joy and happiness can exist within your family again.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy focuses on helping to alleviate the unwanted symptoms you may be experiencing from past traumatic experiences. Whether you are processing negative childhood experiences, sexual assault, or other traumatic experiences, EMDR might be an effective tool to help you decrease the intensity and frequency of your unwanted symptoms.
